A Powder Coating Engineer or Powder Coating Specialist will implement, develop, and optimize powder coating application in the manufacturing operations for Roller Die + Forming in Rossville, Georgia.

Education:

Diploma/Degree (in Paint technology, Chemical, B. Sc. ) or Bachelors in Chemistry/Engineering

Desired Experience: Minimum3+ years of experience in same pattern industry (Powder coating). The combination of relevant experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Job Description:

  • Timely verification of pre-treatment tank point age & Ph level & maintain as per the requirements of the industry
  • Analyze painting solutions using powder and equipment.
  • Conduct painting surfaces of all parts; mask, uncoated surface, clean, set up, pre-heat, spray, dipping, curing or post curing and other coatings, as required.
  • Analyze problems with powder coating (PPG, Sherwin Williams & other powder resin), and be able to provide corrective actions to remedy problems.
  • Prepare parts for coating, setup and develop powder coat processes for new jobs all while following principles and practices of powder coating application.
  • Manage and operate all coating equipment including guns, tanks, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
  • Chemical discard Plan & Maintenance accordingly
  • Cooperate to determine powder usage, optimize coating layer thickness, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using thickness checking device.
  • Advise all staff members (junior staff, operators) in maintaining powder coating process as needed.
  • Make plans for training the department supervisor to optimize job assignments to ensure customer orders are timely and support with training employees.
  • Instruct production supervisor to maximize production or methods to solve issues.
  • Improve processes, jigging methods, and tooling to streamline processes.
  • Develop strategic plans to ensure the maintenance of the powder coating equipment.
  • Cooperate with Sales, Production, Quality and Management Teams to assures coated parts meet customer specifications.
  • Develop work instructions for the powder coating line.
  • Establish the WI, SOP and define all the process parameter for customer products. Ability to conduct the DOE to ensure the process optimization are achieved. Define process limits based on experimentation and analysis.
  • Develop standards for current and future powder coating activities including process improvement, process standardization, line design, and cost reduction.
  • Develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and improve manufacturing yields.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment.
  • Promote and maintain 5-S to ensure an organized, clean, and work safe area
  • Wastewater system knowledge: Local government and permit requirements
  • Testing of wastewater prior to discharge
  • Perform titrations: testing the system for various chemical levels
  • Working directly with suppliers
  • Knowledge of rack burn-off protocols, safety, and maintenance

Position Summary

  • Assist one or more skilled tradesmen with routine installations, repairs construction and replacement of equipment.

Description

  • Builds, repairs, and modifies all types, sizes and shapes of metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures; gauges and machinists’ hand tools;
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder; verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications;

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain proper inventories for tooling and spare parts.
  • Operate and maintain tooling and die shop equipment.
  • Monitor dies throughout production life and collect/offer information on die design and die wearing.
  • Maintain documentation on die maintenance repairs.
  • Assist maintenance department in performing machine specific preventive maintenance.
  • Perform machine specific cleaning procedures.
  • Operate grinders, manual grinders, lathe, band saw and other shop machines.
  • Works on a hard surface; stands, stoops, bends and lifts heavy objects (approximately 50 lbs.).
