Roller Die + Forming rolls custom parts for Santa’s Workshop

Rapidly growing custom metal forming company Roller Die works with the elves at Santa’s Workshop to make custom solar racks for field and rooftop use, powering Santa’s workshop into the future.

NORTH POLE, December 25, 2020 — It takes acres of solar to power the North Pole factories throughout the summer. That’s why Santa’s engineering team reached out to Roller Die + Forming to help manufacture custom racks for their solar fields and roof-top installations.

Following up on the success of last year’s racking project, the elves worked with Roller Die to ensure excellent accuracy, tight tolerances, and easy assembly of the new solar mounts. Timing delivery and set-up this year was particularly challenging due to the pandemic as Santa wanted to ensure a safe workplace for his elves. Roller Die plant managers had to be adaptable to changing global conditions and raw material supplies. The team kept buffer stock on hand to ensure timely delivery of racking kits.

Taking care of Earth’s children has always been a priority and using clean energy to power Santa’s Workshop is an important step in that process. “Using solar to power our workplace, especially over the summer months when production is high, is an important step in moving towards a greener future. Our workshop aims to run on all clean energy throughout the year by the end of the decade,” shared Santa’s Director of Sustainability.

“With the assistance and expertise of Roller Die’s engineer and tooling team, we were able to design a custom solution to meet our needs. We were even able to leverage their standard tooling, keeping the costs within budget,” shared the elven Chief of Engineering. “The quality control at Roller Die was excellent and all parts were delivered on time and to specification.”

Since many of Santa’s holiday appearances have been moved to a virtual format this year, he’s had more time to focus on improvements and manufacturing initiatives at home in the North Pole. Expect to see a more efficient workshop, upgraded naughty/nice reporting databases, and work/life balance initiatives for elves in 2021.

Happy Holidays from the entire Roller Die team.
